Final Doom

Welcome to the new blog. Great, another year of panic and madness to complete the work in time; just what I've always wanted! So what have I got to do THIS year? Here are the choices:

1. An advert based on the work of Level2 Production Design Students
2. Character Animation showreel to be used for Musion.
3. In short... anything!
4. Animated Content for Students on demand.

Well compared to last term, the choices are greater. Obviously #3 gives me the freedom to create my own design; but even without if I'm quite happy with two of the three other ideas; so having #3 is a great bonus. I'm going to get into a bit more detail in each choice and the one I'm going to decide to go through... seems quite obvious.

1. Advert

After skimming through the choices I have already decided this was the weakest choice for my design. Not only have I NOT had an interest in working for adverts, but from teh students here? While I lack connections from the students, and they could be good people... they don't have the creative atmosphere I wish to work in to make him feel happier. Sure, some might have some good ideas. But they work is based upon an industrial in mass and fast demand; while Animation is in the industrial as a method to showing stories in a different format. What I just said may not be accurate but its a brief fact; could go into debate forever to prove I'm wrong/right. My view on adverts is that they are great, but once used up they are gone pretty much for good. They might be remembered but the idea of losing work which people have gone the distance to finish is really depressing. I might not have the choice to avoid this in the future but it will always stay in mind.

2. Musion Animation Showreel

Right, I actually have an advantage if I choose this. I've currently been attending Musion workshops up London for the past month; and for those reading this who don't know who Musion are; they experiment with Image Illusions to be used for promotions. But why have I decided to NOT pick this one?
If I had less options, this would have been my chosen idea as it would have still kept my creative ideas to be used for whatever the character will be acting. But that's also the problem. This is a CHARACTER showreel, and while that's great on its on right it lacks the potential storytelling I wish to proceed. Missing backgrounds, adventure curve and narrative is quite the direction that dissapointments me. Working on generally I have no complaints, but in this project I have the choice; so why miss what I love?

3. Personal Animated Design

It was quite obvious with the clues that I have chosen this one; and I'm pretty sure most of the students would. We might have the chance in the future to create our dreams; but now we can have the preview of what we can do. Even if nothing happens, this will be remembered that we managed to achieve something of our own design; and we could use this to backup out possible chance in the unknown future. When choosing the multiple choices of briefs an idea instantly popped up which rose from the other ideas I have planned before to make; and if it can be done... it will be beautiful. This shall be revealed in good time; stay tuned.

4. Animated Experience for a Student

The shows not over folks; and we come to the final choice. This, I thought; was too similar to the first choice; except in a different area. The first idea was to produce an advert for a student; this is to create varied content for a student; which is only one step higher on the freedom scale. Unless I find a student I could work happily with and I can support his or her idea I doubt this would be chosen. I might have to get use to this in the industry when it comes too; I might not like the work but if the team is good enough I would be happily encouraged to create work for them. But this is not today.

I hope the idea I have planned works; because if it achieves the atmosphere and view of what I have imagined... then I might be able to continue this technique into other projects I have had planend; not necesscary related to Ravensbourne College; but for my own showreel and benefit.

Stay Reading for more. here's a clue to the idea I have planned (for now) and hopefully not to the result. It won't be as obvious as it seems...
